Ronald Koeman has been named as the new manager of Spanish giants Barcelona, the man whose goal won the 1992 European Cup for the Catalan side leaving his role as coach of the Netherlands national side.

The former Southampton and Everton boss had revitalised the fortunes of the Dutch after their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

They reached the final of the inaugural Nations League competition, beating England in the final four, and easily qualified for Euro 2020 prior to its postponement for a year.

Dwight Lodeweges will act as interim coach and a 32-man provisional squad has already been named for September's matches against Poland and Italy, big-money Manchester City signing Nathan Ake among the names.
