The former England midfielder Paul Scholes is still undecided whether he will continue playing beyond this season.
Scholes, 36, remains a pivotal player for the Red Devils - for whom he has scored more than 100 goals in well over 500 appearances.
Sir Alex Ferguson would doubtless welcome Schole's availability next season, but he appears to still need convincing to stay on.
"I don't what I'm doing next year. I just want to concentrate on getting back playing for now," he told MUTV.
"I like to have a week or two off at Christmas. This one just stretched out a bit longer, which has not been ideal. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can regain some fitness."
Scholes scored 14 goals in 66 appearances for the Three Lions between 1997 and 2004, when he retired from international football to prolong his club career.
