Name: Karen Carney
Date of Birth: 01.08.87
Position: Forward
Club: Chicago Red Stars
England caps/goals: 46/7
Karen was instrumental in England's 4-1 victory over Italy in February 2005, coming off the bench to score the final goal of the match on her senior international debut.
In that match, Karen became the youngest player to be handed a senior debut during Hope Powell's six and a half years as National Coach.
Karen has proceeded to the Senior squad through the U17 and 19s and is eligible to play for the U19s until the 2005-06 season.
Described earlier this year as her 'super sub' by Hope Powell, Karen has a natural ability on the ball and plenty of tricks to get past her marker.
A further demonstration of this came in England's first-ever international victory against Norway in May 2005 when she was the architect of England's goal in a 1-0 victory.
Deservedly voted the Nationwide Young Player of the Year for 2005, Karen's skills are sure to wow fans over the coming years.
