Katie started playing football at the age of 10 with Millwall Lionesses and made her first team debut at 14, winning The FA Women's Cup and FA Premier League Cup in the same year.
At 16 years of age she made her debut for England U18s, captaining the side.
She was awarded her first England senior cap at just 17 and is now a regular member of Hope Powell's squad.
Katie played in all three of England's group games at Euro 2001 and was highlighted by UEFA's scouts as being a player of high potential and superb technical ability.
Katie is a very strong, committed player who is very dominant in the air and will never give less than 100% in a challenge.
Katie scored her first international goal in a World Cup qualifier away in Holland in March 2002.
Katie took a break from playing football in the 2002-03 season while she was pregnant with her son Harvey. She made a victorious comeback in August 2003 as Fulham won The FA Women's Community Shield. She took a further break for her second pregnancy during 2008-9.
Katie missed out on playing for Charlton in The FA Women's Cup Final in May 2005, against Everton, due to a small broken bone in her hand, an injury she sustained during England's 2-1 victory over Scotland in April that year.
However, her disappointment was partly overcome with a winner's medal in the 2006 FA Nationwide Women's Premier league Cup victory over Arsenal, the club she then joined that Summer.
