Euro 2020 will be held across the continent but with London as its main hub as Wembley Stadium will host England's group stage matches before being the venue for the semi-finals and final, the Three Lions hopefully returning at the business end of the tournament.
The New Year's Eve fireworks in London will mark the countdown to the competition with mayor Sadiq Khan saying: “This year we will be celebrating London’s upcoming key role in the UEFA EURO 2020 Championship.
"I am so excited that we are hosting seven games at next summer’s championship. Once again, we will show that London is open to the world as we welcome sports fans and football stars from all over Europe."
Gareth Southgate, meanwhile, faces something of a frustrating time as his players will not get back together until March for the Wembley dates against Denmark and Italy with time running out to secure a spot in the squad for the Euros.
