Tony Adams, the former England captain, has said he will not quit as Portsmouth manager despite a poor three months since stepping into the Fratton Park hotseat.

Adams replaced Harry Redknapp when he moved to Tottenham Hotspur, but has only managed two wins in his 13 games in charge.

They are no in a battle to stay in the Premier League, while they have also exited the Uefa Cup and FA Cup under Adams' watch.

Adams, whose only previous management experience was overseeing Wycombe Wanderers' relegation to League Two, has no intention of walking away from the south coast club.

"Hopefully everybody will show a bit of patience with me because times have changed. But there's no use complaining, I'm fighting and I'm fighting hard," he said.

I know I will overcome every disappointment because I have done it in the past. There is no point moaning about it.

"I am not a runner and I am not going to run away from anything. On Tuesday night the wife may want me to be at home but I will be out there trying to win football matches for Portsmouth."
