David Beckham will need an injection in his right ankle to take part in Sunday's MLS Cup final as he seeks hist first silverware since joining Los Angeles Galaxy.
The England midfielder trained with Galaxy on Friday for the first time since last weekend's 2-0 win over Houston in the semi-final.
"You got to be kind of careful with it not to get any kicks on it," Beckham said.
"So it's definitely been frustrating, but I'm sure it will be fine for Sunday. Definitely be fine for Sunday. It's just one of those things that you just have to get through."
Beckham is in his third season with Galaxy after quitting Real Madrid. Although he angered some supporters by leaving to play for the Italian side AC Milan on loan, he appears to have won over his teammates.
Landon Donovan, a Galaxy player who criticised Beckham's globe-trotting, sang his praises on Friday.
"Life is about choices. He could have come in and chosen to be something different than he has been," he said.
"He chose to be a man and to want this team to be successful. Without him, we're not where we are. We can cut in any way we want, but that's the reality of it. He has been tremendous."
Beckham also confirmed his intention to keep playing for Galaxy after next summer's World Cup, where he has every chance of being a member of Fabio Capello's England squad.
"I'll hopefully be involved and then return for the rest of the season," he said.
"I'd like to say I've got a good two or three, maybe four years left in me. I feel good and I feel really fit. "
Galaxy will take on Real Salt Lake in Seattle on Sunday. The majority of supporters will be Seattle Sounders fans and likely to lend their support to Sale Lake.
