Can Manchester United Loanee Make England Leap?

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson looks set to become a Premier League regular next season as Sheffield United pursue a further loan deal for one of the key members of their promotion winning squad.

Capped by England up to under-21 level, Henderson has been ever present for the Blades this year after moving on loan from Old Trafford last summer.

Quoted in Sheffield paper The Star on Friday, Bramall Lane boss Chris Wilder said: "We're hopeful having spoken with the powers that be at Manchester United that we can agree a deal for Dean to play for us in the Premier League next year."

A look at the stats for 2018/19 in the Premier League shows that an England-qualified goalkeeper playing regularly in the top-flight will automatically come to Gareth Southgate's attention.

Prior to the penultimate round of matches only eight custodians have played the equivalent of five games or more with Ben Hamer and Marcus Bettinelli at relegated clubs and Joe Hart's England career surely over.

If Henderson is an ever-present again for Sheffield United next season then his campaign could well end with a place in the Euro 2020 squad.
