Colombia Next For England After Belgium Defeat

England were beaten 1-0 by Belgium on Thursday evening meaning they finish second in their World Cup group.

Both Gareth Southgate and opposite number Roberto Martinez made a number of changes amid plenty of talk as to whether winning Group G or not would provide a better path through the tournament.

Adnan Januzaj scored the only goal of the game as England struggled to find the level of form they showed against Tunisia and Panama although Marcus Rashford should have equalised after excellent work from strike partner Jamie Vardy.

It means a last-16 game against Colombia in Moscow on Tuesday evening and a certain recall for many of Southgate's first-choice players.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the game the England manager said: "We are not happy to be beaten but we had double objectives tonight. The knockout game is the biggest game for a decade for us."
