England's 2026 World Cup journey will begin against Croatia with the draw for the tournament's group stage taking place on Friday in Washington DC.

Familiar foes from the 2018 World Cup semi-final, the two sides will meet in either Toronto, Canada or Dallas, USA on Wednesday 17 June after being drawn together in Group L of the expanded 48-team competition.

Although the final venues will not be known until Saturday, Group L fixtures are also scheduled for New York/New Jersey, Boston and Philadelphia in the USA.

Being drawn alongside another European national also means England will not face Scotland in the group stages, nor Wales or Northern Ireland if either side were to come through the play-offs.
