Jermain Defoe, the Tottenham and Englan forward, faces several weeks out of action with a foot injury.

Defoe, 26, rejoined Spurs from Portsmouth earlier this month and has scored three times in four starts for Harry Redknapp's side.

Some reports have suggested the England international could be out for the season, although a club spokesman said it is hoped the striker would be out for no more than a month.

If that is the case Defoe would miss the Premier League games against Bolton Wanderers, Arsenal and Hull City, as well as the Uefa Cup matches against Shakhtar Donetsk.
