A classic World Cup rivalry resumes on Friday in Le Havre when England Women take on Argentina in their second group stage game at France 2019.

The Men’s World Cup has seen its fair share of controversial moments between the two teams, Antonio Rattin refusing to leave Wembley pitch in 1966, Diego Maradona’s handball goal in 1986 and David Beckham's sending-off in 1998.

For Phil Neville's Lionesses the game is one they are expected to win but Argentina are sure to raise their game and showed in the goalless draw against Japan that they will be a tough unit to break down despite a build-up to the tournament far removed from England's smooth passage.

England Under-17 coach Steve Cooper has not yet been confirmed as the new boss of Swansea City but remains the clear favourite to take the job while Jonathan Woodgate, capped eight times by the Three Lions, is poised to take his first steps into management at fellow Championship club Middlesbrough with Steve McClaren's former national team assistant Steve Round as a member of his backroom staff.

There was a pleasing end to the Toulon Tournament for a mixed age-group England Under-20 side on Tuesday when they defeated Guatemala 4-0 to finish ninth in the overall rankings.
