England Daily Digest: 17 June

Tuesday marks one year since England began their World Cup campaign with a last-gasp win against Tunisia.

As well as Gareth Southgate's side had played in Volgograd, all of the positivity that had been built up in the weeks prior to Russia 2018 could have begun to evaporate if Harry Kane had not scored his second goal of the game in stoppage time.

The goal ensured that England could secure a place in the knockout stages with a win against minnows Panama and set in motion an upward spiral that has continued over the following 365 days.

And in just under one year's time Group D of Euro 2020 will commence with England knowing that this will be their group if they confirm their expected qualification for the tournament.

Wembley Stadium and Hampden Park will host the six fixtures in the group, starting on 14 June 2020, with England guaranteed two matches on home soil at least.
