England debut for Manchester City defender

England manager Thomas Tuchel promised little in the way of experimentation for this month's World Cup qualifiers, despite a spot already being secured for the 2026 tournament, and was as good as his word when naming the starting XI for Thursday night's game against Serbia at Wembley.

Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly was handed an international debut, the latest player to try and nail down the left-back slot, but the returning Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden started the game on the substitute's bench, Tuchel continuing to start with Morgan Rogers after his impressive performances in October's matches.

Winning a 47th cap for his country, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for England on a rain-soaked evening in North London.
