England will play two friendly fixtures in addition to their four Nations League matches before the end of the year
The announcement of matches against Switzerland and the USA completes a busy schedule for Gareth Southgate’s side as they will also meet Spain and Croatia home and away in the new UEFA Nations League.
A friendly with the USA will take place at Wembley on Thursday 15 November but, pleasingly, England will take on the Swiss at a club ground yet to be announced on Tuesday 11 September to go alongside the pre-World Cup clash with Costa Rica which will be at Elland Road, Leeds, on Thursday 7 June.
Interest in the Swiss game will, of course, be governed by how well the Three Lions fare in Russia.
A barely believable 72,024 came to Wembley in August 2010 for a friendly against Hungary on the back of a dismal World Cup campaign but after another failure in 2014 there were only 40,181 inside the stadium for the game against Norway.
