England players were bugged

Recordings of team meetings and private conversations were made in the build-up to the game, apparently through the use of concealed bugs. They were offered for sale to national media organisations, though none have so far purchased them.

The FA have warned media organisations that publication would breach the Data Protection Act and Press Complaints Commission rules, although they have made no statement on the record.

It is not known what was discussed in the taped conversations, but the likely intention was to capture senior players discussing the fallout of John Terry's affair with the former girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.
