England Return to the Nation's Screens

England will return to terrestrial television in March with the Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro being shown live, as the remaining qualifiers will be, on ITV.

The inception of the UEFA Nations League last year allowed for separate television rights packages to be sold and with Sky winning that particular bid (and the England friendlies that fell during the Nations League window) it means the Three Lions have not been seen on terrestrial TV since the defeat to Belgium in the third/fourth place play-off at the World Cup.

And although England’s success in winning a tough Nations League group was celebrated, it is those moments that can be shared more widely that will always stay in the memory longer.

Qualification for the Euros won't engender that same feeling but it will get the Three Lions back into the national consciousness ahead of next summer’s finals and with Wembley set to host the semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 there will hopefully be some more special moments ahead.
