England Star Prepares For Bundesliga Return

Jadon Sancho will be back in competitive action this coming weekend as football returns to Germany, the England star set to be part of a Borussia Dortmund side that takes on local rivals Schalke in the first set of matches to be played in any of Europe's big leagues since the coronavirus outbreak.

Normally a hugely passionate affair on the terraces, Saturday's derby will be played behind closed doors as part of the measures taken to ensure the German top-flight can be played to a conclusion.

Dortmund are four points behind leaders Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings and Sancho had been in fine form before the season was brought to a halt with 15 assists on top of 14 goals.

A return to the Premier League has long been mooted for the former Manchester City youngster but Borussia were confident of keeping him before the football lockdown began and may now be in a strong position to do so given how the crisis will affect finances in English football.

Facing Sancho this weekend will be Jonjoe Kenny, an England international at all youth levels up to under-21 and enjoying regular football in the Bundesliga after making a loan move from Everton to Schalke last summer.
