England To Face Balotelli At Wembley?

Italy name their squad on Sunday for their upcoming friendlies against Argentina and England.

Interim manager Gigi Di Biagio is in charge for both games, stepping up from the Under-21's as he stakes his claim to be the new permanent Azzuri coach in the wake of their failure to qualify for the World Cup.

That calamity resulted in Gianluigi Buffon announcing the end of his international career but he may yet be involved in some role or another under Di Biagio.

As reported on the Football Italia website, Di Biagio recently told the Italian media: "If he doesn’t play, I need him off the field too, for everything that he is. It’s not a courtesy or a kindness, as these are two important and stimulating games."

A recall for Mario Balotelli is also being mentioned which would see the Nice striker back in the national team colours for the first time since 2014 and also potentially back at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.

That is where Italy will play Argentina on the same evening as England travel to Amsterdam before the Wembley clash on March 27.
