Adam Lallana will miss out on the World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia as the Liverpool man faces two months on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

The midfielder sustained the knock in last week's friendly with Atletico Madrid.

His international colleagues Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck were on the winning side in the Community Shield on Sunday against Gary Cahill's Chelsea.

Both Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain scored in the penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw, the spot-kicks being taken using the new ABBA system which hopefully will bring England more luck if it is used in a major championship!

England Under-20's needed no such luck when they won this summer's World Cup and one of the victorious members of that squad, Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton, was on the mark for his club in their midweek Europa League win.

The next group of players to take on the Under-20 mantle will play their first game of the season against Holland at AFC Telford on Thursday 31 August.

Tickets for the 7pm kick-off are priced at £3 and £1.
