Former England Defender Passes Away

Tributes have been paid to Norman Hunter following his death at the age of 76.

Hunter passed away in hospital after contracting coronavirus.

Like Peter Bonetti, who also died recently, Hunter was a non-playing member of the 1966 World Cup squad and was also a hugely popular figure at the club where he spent the vast majoriity of his playing career, Leeds United.

"His legacy will never be forgotten and our thoughts are with Norman's family and friends at this very difficult time," said the Elland Road club in a statement.

Hunter's England career spanned nine years from 1965 to 1974 and he won 28 caps in total including at the 1970 World Cup.
