Germany Boss: England One Step Ahead

Joachim Low believes his side are not among the favourites for Euro 2020 despite his revamped Germany having ended qualification in impressive form.

Facing calls to quit after World Cup glory in 2014 turned to debacle four years later Low opted instead for an overhaul which saw the likes of Thomas Muller told his national team services were no longer required.

If Germany are to triumph in next year's tournament they will need to get out of a group containing France and Portugal and Low believes the French are among a clutch of teams who go into the new year as favourites.

Speaking to his national association's website he said: "We will prepare well, we want to play attractive football and of course we hope to survive the group stage.

"However, it's easy to forget that there are teams that have been playing together for a long time and are therefore one step ahead of us, teams like France, the Netherlands, England, Italy."
