His injury has been confirmed as a knee ligament injury which will now see him face a race against time to be fit for the beginning of the 2018/19 season.
Liverpool's dominant display means they are huge favourites to reach the Champions League Final, scheduled for Kiev on 26 May, one week before England's Wembley friendly against Nigeria.
