Newcastle Send-Off For Southgate's Squad?

St James’ Park still looks to be the likely venue for England’s final Euro 2020 warm-up fixture with the Three Lions scheduled to play Romania on Sunday 7 June, exactly one week before their opening group stage game against Croatia at Wembley.

Preparations for the tournament mean that the Romania game will be played away from Football Association HQ and that provides a welcome opportunity for supporters elsewhere to watch England close up.

With the last senior international in Newcastle dating back to 2005 that made St James' Park the early front-runner to host the game and a recent piece in local newspaper The Chronicle indicated that the Magpies are keen on providing a rousing send-off to the squad.

Always one of the favourite venues for away supporters in the Premier League given its city centre location, it would be great to see the ground hosting England once again and enabling fans in the area to support the national side without having to plan for the logistics of a trip to Wembley.
