Not Your Usual England Away Trip

The recent ruling by Uefa that all of September's international fixtures in Europe would be played behind closed doors put paid to lingering hopes among England supporters that some may have got to see the Three Lions in action in Iceland next weekend.

Hints from the Icelandic FA that some fans would be allowed to watch what is a big game for the hosts saw a number of England followers speculatively book flights in June but Iceland has since re-introduced strict quarantine rules.

An interesting blog by Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett explains why he arrived in the country over a week before the game and why any England fans who do still travel may not get to see too much of their destination.

On the field, Gareth Southgate has added Conor Coady of Wolves and Ainsley Maitland-Niles of Arsenal to his squad as extra cover in the wake of Harry Maguire being withdrawn.
