On The March: England's Month Ahead

March sees Gareth Southgate’s senior squad return to action for the first time since November’s Nations League success with a double-header of Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday 22nd and in Montenegro on Monday 26th.

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is in line for a call-up after pledging his international future to the Three Lions although the registration process after his switch from Ireland may be a race against time for the March fixtures.

England Women start their preparations in earnest for this summer’s World Cup at the SheBelieves Cup in the USA and face a tough test against their hosts, the reigning world champions, on Saturday 2nd before taking on Japan on Tuesday 5th.

Chioma Ubogagu has been added to Phil Neville’s squad, the Orlando Pride striker also someone who has switched international allegiance having previously represented the USA at Under-23 level.

Aidy Boothroyd takes his Under-21 squad to Bristol City to face Poland on Thursday 21st and Bournemouth for the visit of Germany on Tuesday 26th, both important friendlies ahead of the European Championships.

Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff has impressed for the Magpies recently and is said to be in Boothroyd’s thoughts for these games.

And the England C team, the international side which gives opportunities to young players outside of the Football League, take on Wales on Tuesday 19th at the home of National League side Salford City.
