Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is sweating on the fitness of England centre-half Sol Campbell for the trip to Wigan Athletic.
The 33-year-old is suffering from the after-effects of England's 2-1 defeat in Russia, with Redknapp having been critical of the artificial playing surface on offer in Moscow. He said: "I'm still hoping we will be able to wheel Sol out somehow because he's our captain and our leader.
"But that pitch in Moscow has done him now favours at all.
"He came back aching from head to foot and I was worried all the time about his Achilles, which have given him problems. He hasn't been able to train since he returned, but we'll see how he is."
Meanwhile, Redknapp has praised Pompey frontman Benjani Mwaruwari, who has already matched his six-goal haul from last season in the first two months of the new campaign.
"He took a long time to score goals for us but the fans always loved him because he runs his socks off," Redknapp added.
"It's great now to see him finally getting the rewards and we just hope his scoring run continues."
