Wayne Rooney, never one to show public signs of weakness, has declared himself fit for England's friendly against Egypt on Wednesday.
The Manchester United forward has a slight knee injury, but a scan showed no serious injury and he is keen to face the African champions at Wembley.
"Yes it's okay, I went for a scan and it's just a bit of bruising," he said.
"I should train tomorrow [Tuesday] and should play on Wednesday."
Rooney has been in exceptional form for United this season, and scored the winning goal in Sunday's 2-1 Carling Cup final win over Aston Villa.
Fabio Capello, the England coach, has not suggested resting the player but is unlikely to use him for the full 90 minutes.
With Rooney's World Cup place not in doubt, the Italian could be tempted to through on players like Jermaine Defoe, Peter Crouch and Carlton Cole instead.
