Terry 11/8 to lose World Cup captaincy

Paddy Power had been offering just 1/7 that Terry would lead England in South Africa this summer and 4/1 he wouldn’t but cut the odds following the allegations of an affair with a former teammate’s girlfriend. Terry may take comfort from the fact he is still expected to be the England captain at 8/15.

The alleged shenanigans are not expected to impact too deeply on Wayne Bridge either who at 1/3 is still expected to make Fabio Capello’s squad of 23 as John Terry’s teammate this summer.

Paddy Power said: “Fabio Capello is renowned for his discipline and won’t be too impressed with what’s going on. Terry will certainly be sweating over his captaincy dreams but we expect in the long run Fabio will stick by his man.”

The bookmaker is also speculating whether Terry has had an affair with any other teammate’s partners offering 2/1 that Abi Clancy is the next WAG to emerge as a Terry conquest followed by Frank Lampard’s ex Elen Rives at 5/2. Cheryl Cole is an 80/1 outsider while Terry would have to be extremely brave as well as foolish to have had a dalliance with Russian tycoon and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s wife at 40/1.

It’s 150/1 that Terry has roamed outside of football and bravely played away with a rugby player’s WAG with Kelly Brook at 150/1 whilst transsexual JT look-a-like Lucy Smith is 500/1.

The question now is whether Terry’s affair was a one off or if a Tiger Woods style avalanche of women will emerge. Paddy Power offer 3/1 that the Bridge affair is the only one to come out of the Terry closet before the World Cup while it is 7/4 for a Tiger-esque six or more.
