Time To Pray For Kane?

Harry Kane's hamstring is fast becoming this year's pre-tournament injury worry for England, following in the wake of David Beckham and Wayne Rooney in years gone by when progress on their respective recoveries were the subject of intense media speculation.

Ex-players and medical specialists are being called upon to give their opinion on whether the Tottenham striker will recover in time for Euro 2020 with newspaper headlines this week offering wildy different forecasts on the prospects of the Three Lions' talisman being available for selection when Gareth Southgate names his squad for the tournament.

Estimates have varied between a playing return in mid-April to missing the competition altogether with Kane's value at club level becoming more and more apparent with every game he has missed for Tottenham, Jose Mourinho's side drawing a blank again at Watford this weekend.

With Kane certain to miss the March friendlies against Denmark and Italy the focus of attention has been on Danny Ings of Southampton as a potential replacement in Southgate's thinking.
