Tributes have been pouring in from across the football world after the death of Martin Peters.

Sir Geoff Hurst said of his former club and country colleague that "Martin Peters was one of the all-time greats and a close friend and colleague of mine for in excess of 50 years.

"A fellow World Cup final goalscorer and my West Ham partner for years along with Bobby Moore. RIP old friend."

The scorer of England's second goal in the 1966 World Cup Final, Peters was capped 67 times by his country as well as enjoying a distinguished club career with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur as well as spells with Norwich City and Sheffield United.

Peters' death follows that of his 1966 teammate Gordon Banks earlier this year with five of the famous cup winning side now having sadly passed away.
