Spain and Portugal look set to launch a joint bid to host the 2018 World Cup, taking the total number of candidates to 10.
Uefa sources say a bid is certain, which would be the fourth approach from Europe.
Portugal hosted the European Championship in 2004, while Spain held the 1982 World Cup.
England, Russia, Australia, Holland and Belgium (joint), China, Japan, USA, Canada, Mexico and now Spain/Portugal have all thrown their hat into the ring to host the 2018 finals.
