Spain and Portugal have confirmed a joint bid to host the 2018 World Cup finals.

The agreement was made at a meeting in Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, between the country's football associations on Monday.

Interested parties have until February 2 to inform Fifa, football's world governing body.

England are among the favourites, with Australia, Qatar, Russia, the United States and Belgium/Holland also in the bidding process.

Spain last hosted the World Cup in 1982, while Portugal hosted the European Championship in 2004.
