Jay Rodriguez, the Burnley forward, has been tipped as a candidate for the England U21 side after impressing for the Clarets in the Championship this season.
Rodriguez, 21, has scored three times this term and Brian Laws, the manager at Turf Moor, said the England U21 coach Stuart Pearce has watched him in action.
"It's no surprise that the likes of Stuart Pearce and the England U21s are looking at him because he is at the right age of talent that England are looking for," he said.
"The progress he has made has obviously catapulted him into the eyes of the England U21s and to get recognition already - by being looked at - suggests he is going in the right direction.
"We just have to make sure he keeps progressing and doing the things he is doing and hopefully he will get that recognition with a call-up."
Pearce's U21 side are next in action in a friendly against Germany on November 16, as they build towards next summer's European Championship finals.
