Jack Rodwell will be fit to play for the England U21 side against Germany next week, according to the Everton manager David Moyes, despite not playing for his club since August.

Rodwell, 19, suffered an ankle injury against Aston Villa on August 29 and has not featured since, although he has been an unused substitute for the Toffees in their last three outings.

Moyes is happy for the midfielder to join the international team heading to Wiesbaden for the game, which the U21 coach Stuart Pearce is using as an opportunity to look at a few different players ahead of next summer's European Championship finals in Denmark.

"He's said this morning [Friday] he is feeling more confident in his ankle, so I'm happy for him to go with the U21s," said Moyes. "With a bit of luck he might get a bit of that game, which will help him improve his fitness and give him some match time."

Moyes also said Rodwell could be elevated into the starting line-up for Everton in Sunday's Premier League game against Arsenal.
