Shrewsbury have snapped up England U20 midfielder James Wallace from Everton on a month-long loan deal.
He moved to the League Two side as cover for Nicky Wroe, who is sidelined for the next few weeks with a groin injury.
Town manager Graham Turner told the club's official website: "James is a player we tried to sign over the summer but he stayed at Everton to see if he could make the breakthrough into the first team.
"He was subsequently picked for the England U20 side who travelled to the World Cup and that took him well into the summer. He's now recovered from the exertions of that tournament and a couple of slight injuries and is keen to join us and help our push.
"We saw James play for Stockport last season (on loan) and were impressed with him and have been keeping tabs on his progress and availability. He comes highly recommended by David Moyes both as a player and as a professional."
