Noel Blake, the England U19 coach, said his side fully deserved their place in the semi-final of the European Championship despite needing a last-gasp goal to go through.
Matt Phillips scored deep in second-half stoppage-time on Sunday to secure a 1-1 draw with France, who are hosting the tournament.
That goal came minutes after Austria scored the only goal of their game against Holland, allowing the young Three Lions to scrape through their group as runners-up.
"We kept going, and I thought that was as well as we've played so far in the competition," said Blake.
"I felt we deserved the result on reflection and obviously it was good enough to take us through to the semi-final.
"The lads never gave up, played some good football and we created some good chances throughout. Their goalkeeper has made some saves too, but we kept at them and got what we deserved in the end."
England will take on Spain in their semi-final on Tuesday, with the winner facing France or Croatia in the final.
