Two goals from the Everton youngster Hallam Hope gave the England U17 side a winning start to their European Championship qualifying campaign in Tiblisi.

John Peacock's side are in Georgia for a four-team tournament, with two teams going through to the second stage. Hope put England ahead after eight minutes.

Sam Magri, the Portsmouth defender, doubled the lead after 23 minutes when the Swedes failed to clear a corner properly.

Hope turned in Raheem Sterling's cross two minutes after the restart to seal the win. John Peacock's side will take on the hosts Georgia on Wednesday before finishing the stage against Poland.
