Dick Advocaat, the manager of Zenit St Petersburg believes the January transfer window is the right time for Andrei Arshavin - one of the stars of Euro 2008 - to move to a major European club.

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with the Russia star in the summer, and with Juande Ramos recently swapping the White Hart Lane hotseat for that of Real Madrid's speculation quickly started up suggestion he could be heading to Spain.

And Advocaat, who steered Zenit to the Uefa Cup last season, is resigned to seeing one of his best players depart the club.

Sometimes you have to give players of that quality a chance to show themselves in Europe and I think it's the right time for Andrei to do that," he said.A

"If you can play in Europe and you get a good offer then players will go," he said."
