Morten Olsen will step down as Denmark coach after the European Championship campaign.

Olsen, 61, has been in charge of the Danish side since 2000 - leading the team to the 2002 and 2010 World Cup finals, as well as the quarter-finals of the 2004 European Championship.

"It is all very unremarkable. I am simply announcing this decision now because it is extremely important that the DBU have sufficient time to find the right replacement," he said.

"Now it is all about getting the team to Euro 2012. It is important that I hand over good players and a good team to my successor."

Denmark are third in Group H of qualifying for the 2012 European Championship.
