The president of France's football federation has said the country will bid to host the 2016 European Championship.
Jean-Pierre Escalette ruled out a joint bid with Italy, and is confident of winning the rights to the event they lst held in 1984."I can confirm that we will apply, we are going alone and we are going to win."" he told L'Equipe.
France won the 1984 championship, and also lifted the 1998 World Cup which they hosted.
