Michel Platini, the president of Fifa, has reportedly said that Ukraine could be scrapped as co-hosts of the 2012 European Championship.
The former Soviet state is due to host the tournament in partnership with Poland, but Platini has said that if its stadiums are not ready then a replacement country will not be sought.Organisers in Ukraine are behind with their plans for infrastructure and renovation of the National Stadium in Ukraine. Their attempts to get back on track have been hit by the global recession.
Dziennik, a Polish newspaper, said that if they could not meet their obligations then Poland would likely host the entire tournament.
"If the city does not make it on time with its stadium, there is a possibility that the Euros will take place only in Poland," he said.
"All is going according to plan [in Poland]. Not too slow and not too fast. You are more and more like a Swiss watch."
