Hope Powell, the England Women's coach, has warned her side not to underestimate Switzerland in their World Cup play-off.

The Three Lionesses will take on the Swiss over two legs next month, with the winners going through to next year's finals in Germany.

England were seeded for the tie and will be favourites, but Powell does not want her side to be complacent.

"On paper we will be expected to qualify but we cannot underestimate the Swiss," she said

"We played them this year in the Cyprus Cup tournament and drew with them so we do have recent experience of how tough they will be. They are an improving side with some talented young players and they will want to be in Germany next year as much as us, they will be working hard to try and get there.

"We must now prepare ourselves dilligently for these two upcoming games and ensure we give ourselves the best chance to qualify. Our first objective to make sure we get a good result in our home fixture at Shrewsbury Town."
