Juan, Luis Fabiano and Robinho were on target as Brazil cruised to victory over Chile.
The match was a lively match but Chile were undone by two goals in four minutes in the closing stages of what had previously been a tight but entertaining first half.
Brazil welcomed Kaka back into their side after the Real Madrid star had been suspended for the grim goalless draw with Portugal while Dunga also restored Robinho to the starting line-up.
Chile, praised for their attacking play in the group stage, were without three suspended players. Marco Estrada was sent off against Spain, while defenders Waldo Ponce and Gary Medel missed out after picking up two yellow cards in the tournament.
Matias Fernandez and Carlos Carmona returned after bans. The opening third of the game was a very open affair with both teams committed to attacking at every opportunity.
Chile were finally undone in the 34th minute with a simple goal from a set-piece. Maicon's corner found Juan who had timed his leap to perfection as he thumped a header into the back of the net.
The goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Chile, who had finished second behind Brazil in the South American qualification process for this World Cup.
Just four minutes after the opening goal, Brazil doubled their lead with a well-worked effort. Chile were caught out as Robinho and Kaka set up Luis Fabiano who took the ball in his stride before rounding Claudio Bravo and firing into an empty net.
There was a hint of offside but the Sevilla striker was actually level with the last Chile defender. Chile tried their best to get back into the match after the interval but they were undone by a superb Brazil goal just before the hour mark.
Santos Ramires won possession on the halfway line, burst forward unchallenged and laid the ball off to Robinho who simply passed a shot beyond Bravo.
As Chile kept pressing, so Brazil continued to look dangerous on the break and Robinho was only denied by a smart Bravo save while, at the other end, Julio Cesar had to be at his best to keep out a late Humberto Suazo effort.
Suazo saw another attempt at a consolation goal hit the top of the crossbar as Marcelo Bielsa's side strived in vain to get back into the match. Brazil will play Holland in the first quarter-final on Friday afternoon.
