Vincent Del Bosque, the Spain coach, has warned his players not to underestimate Paraguay after setting up a World cup quarter-final with the South Americans.

Spain defeated Portugal 1-0 on Tuesday night to reach the last eight, and although some commentators have suggested their passage past Paraguay is assured, Del Bosque does not want complacency in his side.

"We shall not underestimate Paraguay and prepare for them with great respect," he said.

"They have very good defenders but also attackers. We must be fully focused to win that match. We know how difficult it is to be victorious, we can't take anything for granted. We must be hugely respectful of our next opponents."
