The World Cup finalists Holland and Spain provide the majority of contenders to be named the tournament's best player.

Fifa unveiled a 10-man shortlist on Friday, with half the players coming from the finalists.

Spain's David Villa, Andres Iniesta and Xavi were included on the list, as were Holland's Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben.

Germany's Mesut Ozil and Bastian Schweinsteiger were nominated along with Uruguay's Diego Forlan, Argentina's Lionel Messi and Ghana's Asamoah Gyan.

Thomas Muller, the Germany midfielder who scored twice in the second round win overEngland, is favourite to be named the young player of the tournament.

He is one of three players on the shortlist, alongside Mexico's Giovani dos Santos and Ghana's Andre Ayew.

The winner of both awards will be named on Sunday evening after the final between Spain and Holland.
