Carlos Queiroz, the Portugal coach, has been suspended for six months after being found guilty of interrupting a drugs test during his side's build up to the World Cup finals.

Queiroz, 57, had denied the allegations but the Portuguese Sport Institute upheld the charge on Thursday.

The Institute stressed that he had not used foul language, but accused him of intimidating an inspector at his side's training base. As a result one test was not carried out correctly.

The former Manchester United assistant manager was angry that the inspectors had arrived unannounced early in a morning.

He will miss the first four games of Portugal's European Championship qualifying campaign.

Agostinho Oliveira, his assistant will be in charge against Cyprus on Friday and Norway on Tuesday.
