The USA midfielder Stuart Holden should make a full recovery from a broken leg in time to play in this summer's World Cup finals.

The Bolton Wanderers player, 24, broke his right leg during Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Holland in Amsterdam and has been ruled out of the next six weeks of Premier League fixtures.

"It's disappointing for Stuart because he's come into the team and done ever so well," said Owen Coyle, the Bolton manager.

“We're erring on the side of six weeks, and if that is the case then he will be capable of playing the last part of the season for us and putting himself in the frame for the World Cup.

"He's a very good player, an international player and he has shown a real desire and hunger to do well for our club. The most important thing is he returns bigger and better."

Holden moved to the Reebok Stadium from Houston Dynamos in January, and has made two appearances for the Trotters.USA open their World Cup campaign against England in Rustenburg on June 12.
