George Weah, one of the greatest African footballers of all time, has suggested the winner of next year's World Cup could come from his continent.

The tournament will be held in South Africa and Weah has tipped an African country to lift the famous Jules Rimet trophy as they are in more familiar surroundings than previous tournaments.

Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and South Africa will be the continent's representives next year.

Ghana will be conisdered the strongest contenders, but with Didier Drogba leading the line for Ivory Coast and Samuel Eto'o up front for Cameroon hopes will be high of an African side going beyond the quater-finals for the first time

"We hope for that, it's not impossible. It's a difficult task but it's not impossible," Weah said

"Ghana just won a junior world cup. Why not? There is a high possibility that an African team can win a World Cup if it can prepare well."
