Derby County's Frank Fielding looks set to be Great Britain's first-choice goalkeeper in this summer's Olympic Games
Fielding, 23, is well-known to GB coach Stuart Pearce having kept goal for England in the U21 European Championship finals last summer. He has also been in the senior Three Lions team.
Pearce has written to several players to check if they wish to be considered for the tournament.
Rams manager Nigel Clough said: "He is highly regarded in the England set-up, as we have seen with his call-up to the full England squad this season for their Euro 2012 qualifiers and the fact that the FA monitor his progress very closely.
"We will see how things unfold with this in the coming months because, at this moment in time, all we know is that Frank has been asked if he would be open to making himself available for Team GB and nothing more."
